Reservations and Traveling!

Surrey Metro Taxi suggests that you book a reservation 4 hours in advance to ensure a car will be available.
As a courtesy to our customers we do attempt to contact all our customers when their drivers are on location and SMS text is sent out to your phone number stating cab # with Estimated Arrival Time.
Unfortunately, drivers are unable to leave their vehicles unattended. The drivers will be pleased to assist with your luggage from the front of your building to the vehicle.
Surrey Metro Taxi requests that our customers cancel their reservations at least 30 minutes in advance for Surrey and North Delta pick-ups and 1 hours in advance for pick-ups outside Surrey and North Delta.
Surrey Metro Taxi attempts, to the best of its ability, to accommodate last minute changes. If you would like to make a change to your reservation, please notify us of your change at least 30 minutes in advance for Surrey pick-ups and at least 1 hours in advance for pick-ups outside of Surrey.

Vehicle Issues

Yes. The wearing of seat belts is mandatory in the Province of British Columbia. 
We are exempt under Provincial law of any requirement to provide child seats (which includes both infant seats and booster seats) for our younger passengers. However, this exemption is not extended to riding in a taxi without an appropriate child safety restraint.
The wearing of seat belts is mandatory in the Province of British Columbia. If you require transportation of a child without the supervision of an adult or legal guardian, please assure the child is aware of the seat belt regulation and that they are required to ride in the rear of the taxi.

Special Needs

Yes. Please be sure to tell one of our call taker that you will be traveling with a service dog so that we can accommodate you.
Children must be at least 16 years of age to travel alone.

Yes, Surrey Metro Taxi can accommodate dogs, cats and small pets. With the exception of service dogs, any animal over 20 lbs must ride in a minivan or van. All animals must be leashed or in a carrier when traveling in a Surrey Metro Taxi vehicle.

Payments

Yes. Your driver will provide you with a cash receipt in the vehicle at the end of your trip.    Receipts will only be provided at the end of your trip, Duplicate receipts will not be provided.

No. You are not obligated to tip drivers, but you are more than welcome to do so.
Gratuity is at the discretion of the passenger. It is customary to tip a driver 10%-15%.
No. The fare does not include tip
No, we do not accept checks.
We accept only Canadian and US dollars currency in cash, debit cards, Visa Card, MasterCard, American Express and Taxi Savers.

Fee and Tariff Information

Then the passenger isn’t obligated to pay.
No, if it fits in normal sedan car trunk. We charge extra $10 cargo fee for Van Cargo request, if the baggage’s are not fitting in sedan cars plus fare is less than $40.
Note: From Surrey to Airport we do not charge extra $10 cargo fee for Van Cargo request.
No. Our tariff rates are posted on our Rates page.
Then you must pay the mileage rate from the carrier’s stand or base to the point of dismissal. The minimum dismissal fee is $3.50.
An additional charge will be assessed for the night’s lodging and breakfast for the driver.
This increases the service that was contracted for, hence additional charges for the service will be at the standard tariff rates.
All such tolls applicable to the vehicle, and its occupants (excluding the driver), must be paid by the passenger.
The Passenger Transportation Act of British Columbia authorizes the Passenger Transportation Board of British Columbia to set rates for the purpose of establishing just and uniform charges, and to make rules governing how rates may be applied or charged.

Other Issues

The driver cannot stop for you if he has accepted a dispatch order, if he or she has to do a shift change or a mechanical issue, if he or she has made an appointment with another customer, or if he or she just doesn’t feel well and needs to get off the street

This is a question that is almost always asked, and the answer is almost always the same: 5 to 10 minutes (depending on traffic and other road conditions) unless a taxi is in the immediate area.
Yes, you can reserve our cabs at the YVR airport terminal by calling dispatch and giving your arrival details and other pertinent information to our dispatch staff.
We are licensed for flag pick-ups in Surrey and North Delta only and not in Richmond or Vancouver.
Yes, we can deliver small parcels, groceries, liquor, cigarettes, mail envelopes and keys etc. We have min vans in which we can deliver your TV of 65” or any barbecue stoves as well.

No. Only companies licensed for your area are permitted to pick you up.
